Origin of Corporate Name
“Ortho” means “straight and right” in Greek.
In the beginning of the twentieth century, Elie Metchnikoff, a Russian microbiologist (Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology or Medicine) and a gifted scientist, called lifestyle for healthy longevity (dietary approach to maintain good gastrointestinal environment ) “ORTHOBIOS” -- right way of living.
Meanwhile, in the 1970s, Dr. Linus Pauling, an American chemist (Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry), theorized and advocated a new therapy for treating diseases with vitamin and mineral supplements as “ORTHO MOLECULAR MEDICINE”, which has greatly influenced ensuing researches on medical and nutritional science. Furthermore, the theory has led to the concept of alternative medicine of our time.
Thus, the word Ortho symbolizes our corporate philosophy. Since the day of establishment, the word has always been used in our corporate name representing the core of our business concept.
