Our founder’s philosophy: Food you can trust, health you can understand
Ortho launched the early era of supplements in Japan. How did we achieve this? About 50 years ago, there was a sharp increase in environmental pollution and lifestyle diseases. A sense of distrust and unease toward food grew among consumers, leading to a growing desire for autonomous lifestyles in which individuals took control of their own health. This was when Ortho was established, and we catered to this demand by developing supplements.
Speaking from a medical and nutritional science perspective, the mechanisms of supplements involve using different kinds of food ingredients to inactivate and remove reactive oxygen in the body, to strengthen the immune system and suppress inflammation by improving the gastrointestinal environment, and to remove waste material through autophagy and other processes.
We have always sought to effectively respond to consumer issues and earn their trust and respect through product development. This stance is part of our DNA at Ortho, and we have constantly evolved over the years while cherishing this philosophy. Our VLCD products represent a particularly strong achievement in our history, and they have spread throughout society as the world’s most delicious and best-selling diet food products and represent a culmination of our insights into medical and nutritional science, while also assuring safety and peace of mind among consumers.
In the 21st century, consumers seek reassurance about their food and knowledge about health more than ever before. The time has come for us to once more demonstrate the significance of our mission.
